Meet the team behind Arise Catholic Movement

Hannah Berry

Hi, my name’s Hannah, great to meet you! I am a second year student at the College of Education and I’m really enjoying it! I also love photography and exploring my home city of Saskatoon I was not a part of the 2019 Arise Retreat, but I have heard nothing but good things and I was excited to be invited to serve on the team this year to bring you all something very special this Spring! I will be praying for you all and looking forward to giving you more clues online about what our team is up to!

Christy Dupuis

Christy Dupuis is a missionary and evangelist at heart. After University, Christy served with Catholic Christian Outreach as a lay missionary. Afterwards she spent several years in parish ministry and ministry consulting. Christy has now returned to CCO as a member of the new CCO Parish and Alumni Team. She also peaks at retreats and conferences and helped launch the Arise Catholic Movement. Christy loves hiking, a good book, adventures with her family, deep conversations with her girlfriends, and a glass of red wine paired with her hubby’s risotto. Her ministry and passion for evangelization is fueled and supported by her family. Christy is married to Dan and together they are raising their four young children whose adventurous spirits keep them both on their toes!

Donna Dupuis

My name is Donna Dupuis. I am a wife, mother of 6 and grandmother to 18 grandchildren and counting. I recently retired after 19 years as a Registered Nurse. I have always had a passion for womens’ ministry with a desire to bring women of all ages to a closer relationship with Jesus. Arise has touched and filled the hearts of so many women already. I am excited to know that more and more women will be Anointed, encouraged and equipped to fulfill their vocations.

Rebecca Farthing

Hello, my name is Rebecca. I am a wife and new mother to a sweet little boy. I have been calling Saskatoon home for the last 5 years and am originally from a small town in Alberta. I moved to Saskatoon to finish my internship in music therapy at St. Paul’s Hospital and fell in love with my now husband and this beautiful city. I currently still work at St. Paul’s hospital in palliative care as a music therapist and sing in the St. Paul’s Co-cathedral choir. Music has always been a huge part of my life from singing at the Catholic family life conference, Rise up in Vancouver in 2016, leading music at the women’s retreat in Vancouver and now am honoured to be leading the music at the upcoming arise retreat. I am so looking forward to accompanying you through song and prayer, you will all be in my prayers.

Nicole Germaine

Hey! I’m Nicole Germaine and I’m honoured to be serving with all the wonderful women on the Arise Team. I am a physiotherapist by day and by night or on weekends I enjoy exploring the outdoors, catching up with friends, reading and discovering new culinary dishes. I recently moved to Winnipeg to be closer to my boyfriend, so am settling into a new life here. I’m super excited for all the wonderful things the Lord has in store for all the ladies at the upcoming Arise retreat. And I’m super pumped that it’s going to be in person this year! I’m helping out with registration, so keep your eye open for when registration opens at the beginning of November!

Taking up youth ministry when her kids were young, she has now moved into working at a crisis pregnancy centre and her parish where she has become a you tuber at 56!

Sharon Leyne

My name is Sharon Leyne, born and raised in Winnipeg but after having built a life here with my husband these last thirteen years I can safely call Saskatoon home. I currently work on the marketing team for Doctors Vision Care here in Saskatchewan but my greatest joy comes from mothering and homeschooling my three young children…all of which refuse to pay rent and instead earn their keep through laughter and cuddles. As someone who thrives through creating, whether it’s writing, designing or film, it has truly been a gift to serve in this way on this amazing team. I have been so blessed to be a part of the Arise Catholic Movement as it has been an essential part of my journey in faith these last three years.

Vanessa Nyssen

My name is Vanessa Nyssen. I grew up in small town Saskatchewan. I’m the youngest of 11 children which I think helped me see life through many different lenses. I’m so grateful for my large family upbringing.

I’ve been married to Jim for 32 years. We have 5 adult children(1 boy and 4 girls), beautiful in-laws and soon to be 11 grand children. My family is the greatest gift of my life (not without its struggles and hardships but whose isn’t?).

I work part time as a pharmacy technician. I Love people and stories. Arise retreats are an awesome example of women in Christ coming together and building community. I’m blessed and humbled to be part of this team with these beautiful faith filled women. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for Arise retreat 2023.

Brenda Tryhuba

Hi! My name is Brenda Tryhuba; I am married to Jim, live in Aberdeen, and have 5 children who are all grown up. My family, including our 3 grandchildren, plus one on the way, is a great blessing to me and I am grateful for all the love and support they give me. I am an educator, and I enjoy working with children. I am a disciple of Jesus and feel I am called to help people in any way that I can. I love being around women and hearing their stories of how they are ‘seen, known and loved’ by Jesus. I am so honored to be a part of the Arise Movement, and excited to see how many more lives will be touched by Jesus and see how our connection can be a blessing for each other. I am praying for all of you to find that connection and support; how all our hearts will be opened to the wonders and blessings of Jesus and how God works in our lives. I am so grateful to be part of the Arise Catholic Movement!
