Put On the Armour of Light

Bishop-Scott-McCaig-2019-622x350.jpg

Bishop Scott provides us with a prophetic exhortation, calling each of us forth, in our uniqueness as women to bring the fullness of our feminine genius to the service of the mission of the church today. To put on the armor of the light and walk boldly in His ways.

Closing Ritual

An opportunity to unpack the day through prayer and an invitation to put on the whole armour of God. Myrrh, a traditional healing agent and gift to Jesus in infancy, can be burned or set out to help us offer our prayers for healing up to Jesus. If Myrrh is not available to you, simply light a candle as an offering.

Offer intentions for yourself and one another, give thanks for the day you have just experienced, and if ready commit to intentionally putting on God’s armour of light.

Reflection Questions

Question 1: Ask Jesus: what aspects of my life are still living in the shadows? Are there things that I have not fully surrendered to you Jesus?

Prayer: Jesus, grant me the grace to see these areas of my life and surrender them to you.

Question 2: How am I being called to specifically offer my unique gifts, in my feminine genius, here and now, in service to God and His church?

Question 3: As you think back over this time of retreat, what is remaining at the surface? What is still stirring your heart here at the end of the day?

Question 4: What are you being called to act upon as you leave this retreat?

Romans 13:12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light.

John 1:9-13  The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God,  who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.

John 15:9-11 As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

Matthew 6:6 But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

John 3:20-21  For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.

Ephesians 6:10-18  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. To learn more about the Armour of God, see below for a special invitation.
